The preparations for the grand welcome of the Chess Olympiad Torch Relay on the arrival of Chhattisgarh have been started in full swing. Chess Olympiad Torch Relay will reach Swami Vivekananda Airport in the capital Raipur at 8.40 am on July 16. From where this Olympiad torch will reach the site of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium while visiting Raipur city. During this, Torch Relay will receive a grand welcome at Telibandha Chowk and Nagar Ghari Chowk. After touring the city, torch relay will reach Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, where many programs will be organized.
Significantly, for the first time in the 95-year history of Chess Olympiad, India has got the host of the 44th Chess Olympiad. This will be the biggest sporting event ever to be held in India. 188 countries are likely to participate in this Chess Olympiad. Chess Olympiad Torch Relay is being organized from 19th June to 28th July in 75 cities of the country under the 75th Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. This torch relay will start from New Delhi and will reach Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh on 16th July while traveling to different states. The Chess Olympiad Torch Relay from Raipur will reach Chennai.
Recently, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department in connection with the preparations for the arrival of the Chess Olympiad Torch Relay in Chhattisgarh. During the Raipur tour of Chess Olympiad Torch Relay, the responsibility of smooth traffic management, security arrangements, drinking water, barricading, reception and preparations to be done at the main venue were assigned to various departments. Chhattisgarh Olympic Association, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Chess Association will have active participation in this event along with Sports and Youth Welfare Department.
