Chairman of State Food Commission reviewed the implementation of departmental schemes in Kanker

Chairman, Chhattisgarh State Food Commission, Shri Gurpreet Singh Babra reviewed the implementation of departmental schemes by taking a meeting of officers in Kanker today. He said that samples of rice, gram and jaggery and other distributed items should be ensured in every fair price shop. He said that the website address of the commission should also be displayed on the board of fair price shops so that complaints regarding the quality of food grains can be made to the commission through the website. Shri Babra also directed to constitute a monitoring committee at the district level at the earliest. In the meeting, member of Chhattisgarh Scheduled Tribes Commission Mr. Nitin Potai, Additional Collector Mr. S.P. Vaidya and Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Mr. Sumit Agrawal were present.
Chhattisgarh Food Commission Chairman Mr. Babra took a meeting of the officers of Food and Civil Supplies, Markfed, Education, Tribal Development Department and Women and Child Development Department, distribution of ration to consumers, mid-day meal in schools, supplementary nutritional food in Anganwadi centers and Ashram- Took information about the quality of rice in hostel food and test check etc. and gave necessary directions to the officials for better implementation of the schemes.
Food Commission Chairman Shri Babara said that fortified rice is full of nutrition and quality. People should be made aware about the merits and benefits of fortified. Fair price shops should be operated from panchayat or government buildings only. The supplementary nutritional food of Anganwadi centers should also be regularly sampled and tested.
Additional Collector Shri S.P. Vaidya told in the meeting that 457 fair price shops are being operated in all 454 gram panchayats of the district and 30 in urban areas. Monitoring committees have been constituted in all panchayats. Out of 487 fair price shops in the district, 359 fair price shops are operating in own buildings, 116 shops in other government buildings and 12 shops in rented buildings.
Officials said that four months food grains have been stored in 34 unreached centers of the district. Consumers can buy food grains for two months or four months together according to their eligibility and capacity.
