Incharge committees will now operate agricultural produce markets
Big step of Chhattisgarh government in the interest of farmers
Raipur, June 30, 2022 / According to the intention of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, an order has been issued for the appointment of in-charge committees to make agricultural produce markets more effective for the protection of farmers’ interests. This will bring transparency and speed in the functioning of agricultural produce markets. Newly appointed Incharge Committees will be able to take effective decisions faster in the interest of farmers. It is worth mentioning here that in the agricultural produce markets of the state since 2011, the committees were not constituted/nominated. The responsibility of running the mandis was the responsibility of the officer-in-charge, due to which there was delay in the development of agricultural markets and the decision of the interest of the farmers. With the appointment of Incharge Committees, it will now help in taking effective decisions faster in the interest of farmers. Representatives of all classes have been included in the burden committees, so that farmers and traders can without any hesitation share their views with the office bearers of the burden committee.
Incharge committees will be able to conduct the functions as the controlling authority of the agricultural produce market, as well as decide to use the market fund and develop facilities in the market area. To ensure timely payment of the produce sold by them to the farmers, the monitoring will also be done by the officers of the Incharge Committee. A total of 07 members including a chairman, a vice-president and 5 members have been appointed in the Incharge Committee of each agricultural market. Orders for the appointment of these Incharge Committees have been issued by the Director, Agriculture Marketing, Raipur.
