Despite the torrential rains, the enthusiasm of the people in the meeting has not diminished. In the meeting, the nearby villagers had come to present their point of view before the Chief Minister. During this, it started raining heavily, the Chief Minister asked the villagers whether to stop the program or continue. The villagers agreed to continue the meeting with full enthusiasm. The Chief Minister also did not let the enthusiasm of the villagers diminish in the rain. In fact, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was meeting the villagers of Katkona village in Manendragarh assembly constituency of Koriya district today. In the meantime, it started raining heavily.                                              Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel had reached Katkona village of Manendragarh Vidhan Sabha today under the meet-and-greet campaign. Before the meeting, the Chief Minister inaugurated ‘Katkona Multiutility Centre’ here. During this, the Chief Minister performed Bhoomipujan for the construction of Anicut on Budhra river at a cost of about Rs.6 crore 75 lakh. With the construction of this anicut, more than 30 thousand people of 33 villages will get water for irrigation, drinking water and disposal. It is a part of Bardar Jal Supply Group under the Multivillage Water Supply Scheme. Keeping in mind the demand and need of the people, he announced the opening of Polytechnic College in Chirmiri and Swami Atmanand English Medium School in Khadagawan. Home Minister Shri Tamradhwaj Sahu and Manendragarh MLA Dr. Vinay Jaiswal were also present on the occasion.                                                      Chief Minister Shri Baghel met 140 members of 14 women self-help groups at Multiutility Center Katkona. He appreciated the income generating activities being done by the women. Encouraging women, the Chief Minister wrote a comment in the manager’s register of the Multiutility Center that women have taken a strong step towards self-reliance under women empowerment. It is worth mentioning that the women of the group are manufacturing potato chips, bakery, dona pattal, masala, slippers, LED bulbs. Similarly, pulses processing, mini rice mill, layer poultry farm, poultry farming, goat rearing, vermicomposting, community bari are performing different tasks.
The women of the group told Chief Minister Mr. Baghel during the inspection that about 8,000 potato chips packets can be made daily in this unit of potato chips manufacturing. Which will be made available in the market through C-Mart. A cake prepared by the Bakery Production Group for the Chief Minister was also cut on the occasion. The Chief Minister also interacted with the group of LED bulb unit here. The women trained by the group said that they have learned to assemble LED bulbs after taking training in just 10 days. The Chief Minister was shown lighting a bulb assembled with his own hands.
Chief Minister Shri Baghel also enjoyed the traditional game Bhaura at the request of the children at the High School Ground in Katkona. In front of the Chief Minister, Sanjay Kumar, a student of Pando tribe studying in class VIII, shot a perfect target in archery. Sanjay is a resident of village Niwari Bahra, who is taking training under Khelgarhia Yojana. The Chief Minister lauded Sanjay’s talent and encouraged him.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister constructed a pucca road from Katkona main road to Paharpara and Paharpara to Kari Chapar, construction of new manure warehouse at Katkona paddy procurement center, establishment of new Swami Atmanand English Medium School in Kharagwa, electricity all in Chhote Kalua. He also announced the establishment of a station, construction of a bridge over Gram Panchayat Kaudimar to Painari Marg, construction of a bridge from Gram Panchayat Funga to Belbahra Marg and construction of a new indoor stadium at Chirmiri.
