Raipur 26 May 2022. A mother fighting cancer had told her husband in the last days to educate Kunti, take care of her. Mother’s last wish to educate her daughter is being fulfilled and father is teaching his daughter. The government has also got full support in this effort of the father. Under the Shaheed Mahendra Karma Tendupatta Social Security Insurance Scheme, the family got two lakh rupees and this money supported the family in difficult times. Kunti’s father Noharu has saved some money from the scheme for her studies and has repaid some money on loan.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, during his meeting at Bakavand today, thanked Nohru Patel for this scheme being run for tendu patta collectors. In fact, the wife of Nohru Patel, a resident of Rajnagar, died of breast cancer a year ago. Nohru’s wife had told him before he died that he should take care of her daughter Kunti and educate her.
For Nohru, who lived by farming and collecting forest produce, the untimely departure of his wife was a big problem. In this difficult time, Nohru got support from the Shaheed Mahendra Karma Tendupatta Social Security Insurance Scheme being run for the Tendupatta collectors. Nohru gets two lakhs from the scheme and is able to fulfill the last wish of his late wife.
Lakhs of people like Nohru living in Vananchal do tendu leaf collection for their livelihood. For the collectors of this green gold, the government is running many schemes. One such scheme is the Shaheed Mahendra Karma Tendupatta Social Security Insurance Scheme, under which Rs 2 lakh is provided for the normal death of the tendu leaf head and Rs 4 lakh in case of accidental death.
