Raipur: Meet-Meeting: Chief Minister inaugurated the distribution of crop insurance claim amount to the farmers of the state from Dantewada

Giving a big gift to the farmers of the state, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel today launched the distribution of Prime Minister’s crop insurance and weather-based insurance claim amount of horticulture crops from Dantewada. Under the insurance scheme for Rabi and Horticulture crops, about 1.5 lakh farmers of 17 districts of the state will get a claim amount of Rs 307 crore 19 lakh. Chhattisgarh is the leading state in the country in terms of payment of insurance claims to farmers for Rabi crops.
Congratulating and wishing the farmers of the state, the Chief Minister said that all the programs are being run smoothly in the state for the betterment of the farmers. Industries Minister Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, MP Mr. Deepak Baij, MLA Mrs. Devati Karma, MLA Mr. Vikram Mandavi, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi were present on this occasion. Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Director Agriculture Shri Yashwant Kumar, Director Horticulture Shri Matheswaran V. participated in the program through video conference.
It is worth mentioning here that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is on a visit to Bastar region in connection with the meet-and-greet campaign. In order that there should be no delay in payment of crop insurance claim amount to the farmers, instead of launching this program from the capital Raipur, the Chief Minister launched it online from Dantewada itself. Earlier, he had distributed the amount of Godhan Nyay Yojana from Ramanujganj during meeting-meeting campaign in Surguja division.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel on 21st May gave Rs 1804 crore to 26 lakh 67 thousand farmers of the state under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Godhan Nyay Yojana and Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana and today Rs 307.19 crore as crop insurance claim. Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey congratulated the departmental officers and said that in a span of just four days, more than 2111 crore has been paid to the farmers of the state.
The Chief Minister said that under the Prime Minister’s crop insurance, about one lakh 45 thousand farmers of 17 districts of the state are being paid Rs 297 crore 9 lakh and under the weather based insurance scheme for horticulture crops, Rs 10 crore 10 lakh is being paid to 4747 farmers. . He said that in Kharif 2021, a claim amount of Rs 752 crore has been paid to 3 lakh 97 thousand farmers of the state. Some farmers have received information about non-payment of claim amount. After examining it, instructions have been given to pay the claim.
Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey said that the month of May has been auspicious for the farmers of the state. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directly transferred an amount of more than 2100 crores to the farmers through various schemes run by the Chhattisgarh government. He said that Chhattisgarh has become the agricultural model state of the country under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. In the entire country, Chhattisgarh is running the maximum number of schemes in the interest of farmers. Chhattisgarh is at number one in the country in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and providing its benefits to the farmers of the state.
The Agriculture Minister said that horticulture crops are being expanded rapidly in the state. Efforts are on to ensure that more and more farmers get benefits from horticulture crops. Minister Shri Choubey said that many states have stopped the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana due to non-payment of premium and other reasons, whereas in Chhattisgarh, the implementation of crop insurance is being done successfully to protect the interests of farmers. In the last three and a half years, Rs 4200 crore has been paid to the farmers of the state as crop insurance claim. He thanked the Chief Minister for his sensitivity towards protecting the interests of farmers.

At the beginning of the program, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh informed about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and said that this scheme is applicable from Kharif 2016. Under this, farmers have to pay only 2 percent premium for Kharif crops paddy, maize, groundnut, soybean, tur, moong and urad and 1.5 percent for Rabi crops wheat, gram, rye-mustard and linseed. Half of the remaining insurance premium amount is the state share and central share. He informed that the state of Chhattisgarh is successfully providing the benefit of crop insurance cover to the farmers of the state. The claim amount being given to the farmers is almost double of the premium amount due to damage to crops due to bad weather and low production.

Under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in Rabi season 2021-22, maximum 59,766 farmers of Rajnandgaon district will be paid a claim amount of Rs.102.14 crores, while 38,414 farmers of Bemetara district will get Rs.98.18 crores, 6478 farmers of Balod district, 14.63 crores, Kabirdham district. 38.04 crores to 22,294 farmers of the district, 36.31 crores to 13,423 farmers of Durg district, 6.69 crores to 3418 farmers of Dhamtari district, 92.50 lakhs to 796 farmers of Mungeli district, 5.80 lakhs to 32 farmers of Balodabazar district including Surguja, Kanker, Balrampur, Bastar Crop insurance claim amount will be paid to the farmers of 17 districts including Bilaspur, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Jashpur and Raipur.
