Raipur. 5 March 2022. AYUSH institutions are also playing an important role in keeping the people healthy and providing them treatment in the state. Health care and treatment of people is being done through 1174 AYUSH institutions in the state. So far, 22 lakh 48 thousand patients have been provided treatment in these institutions in the current financial year 2021-22.
Ayurveda is a five thousand year old system of medicine. It helps in giving right direction to our modern lifestyle and inculcating beneficial habits for health. In this, health products, medicines and substances used in everyday life are prepared from herbs and plants. By using them life becomes happy, stress free and disease free.
Dr. Vijay Sahu, Assistant Director, Directorate of AYUSH, State Government informed that 1174 AYUSH institutions are providing free services to the people in the state. These include two Ayurveda college hospitals located in Raipur and Bilaspur, five district AYUSH hospitals, 12 AYUSH polyclinics, 637 Ayurvedic dispensaries, 52 homeopathy dispensaries, six Unani dispensaries and
460 AYUSH institutions operating in allopathic centers. Free examination and treatment of patients is being done through AYUSH system in all these institutions. In the current financial year 2021-22, 22 lakh 48 thousand patients have got treatment here.
Ayurveda is effective in increasing immunity
, Dr. Sahu said that through Ayurveda, we can also increase our immunity. By increasing immunity, not only can one protect himself from epidemics like corona virus, but also many other types of deadly viruses. Many types of herbs and plants are used in Ayurveda to increase immunity. These are also easily available around us.
Giloy- Giloy is now available in the form of medicine and juice. It can also be drunk by boiling it in water. Immunity can be increased by including it in daily diet.
Amla- Amla chutney or juice can also be consumed. It is the major component of Chyawanprash. Vitamin ‘C’ is found in large quantities in it.
Tulsi- By its consumption, diseases of the upper and lower respiratory system such as cough, cold or shortness of breath can be removed. Basil leaves can also be consumed or it can be drunk as an herbal tea.
Turmeric- Turmeric is considered very beneficial in Ayurveda. It is most commonly used in our kitchen. It helps in inflammation, shortness of breath, cold and cough etc. Apart from adding it to the food every day, adding turmeric powder to milk and consuming it increases immunity.
Black pepper- It has also been given an important place in Ayurveda. You can eat black pepper mixed with turmeric. It is very effective in eliminating cold from the root. It enhances immunity and is also available in the form of tablets nowadays.
