Raipur, 4 March 2022.‘Day Care Chemotherapy’ treatment is being operated in 17 district hospitals of the state under the ‘Dirghayu Ward’ scheme of the National Health Mission. Cancer patients of Naxal affected areas and tribal areas are also getting this necessary treatment. Free chemotherapy treatment is being given to patients in 4 district hospitals namely Dantewada, Narayanpur, Bastar and Kanker of Bastar division, and in 4 district hospitals namely Balrampur, Jashpur, Surguja and Surajpur district hospitals of Surguja division. This treatment facility has also been started in district hospitals of Balod, Bemetara, Bilaspur, Gariaband, Janjgir, Korba, Mungeli, Raipur and Dhamtari. Chemotherapy treatment will be made available in all district hospitals of the state in a phased manner.
Health Minister Mr.T.S. Singhdeo is committed to providing better health facilities in all areas of the state. On his initiative, new facilities are being started by the State Government’s Health Department and the National Health Mission, Chhattisgarh to provide better medical services even in remote areas. In the last one and a half years, 1047 cancer patients have been given chemotherapy treatment in these hospitals. Chemotherapy treatment has been provided to 516 patients in Jagdalpur District Hospital, 296 patients in Jashpur, 86 patients in Ambikapur, 37 patients in Surajpur, 24 patients in Kanker, 21 patients in Janjgir, 17 patients in Raipur, 15 patients in Dhamtari, 13 patients in Narayanpur, 12 patients in Bemetara, 03 patients in Balrampur, 02 patients each in Dantewada, Bilaspur, Gariaband and one patient in Balod district hospital.
Along with chemotherapy treatment, cancer screening is also being done in district hospitals. In the last one and a half years, 4598 cancer screenings have been done in 17 district hospitals having chemotherapy treatment facilities. Cancer screening has been done for 2063 patients in Jagdalpur District Hospital, 810 patients in Dhamtari, 482 patients in Gariaband, 335 patients in Jashpur, 329 patients in Surajpur, 242 patients in Raipur, 104 patients in Janjgir, 65 patients in Kanker, 47 patients in Bilaspur, 39 patients in Balod, 33 patients in Bemetara, 23 patients in Balrampur, 14 patients in Ambikapur, 12 patients in Dantewada district hospital.
