Raipur, 9 February 2022. A seven-day webinar series organized under the joint aegis of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi for the development and strengthening of agricultural higher education in India, concluded here today. On the concluding day, a webinar was organized by the college students on the topic of management of depression. The chief guest of the concluding program was Dr. S.S. of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. Sanger was. The special guest of the program was Dr. M.P., Dean of Agriculture College, Raipur. Thakur was and presided over by the Dean Student Welfare Dr. (Major) G.K. Srivastava did it. The keynote speaker of today’s webinar, Psychiatrist Dr. Amba Sethi talked about the causes, symptoms, Delivered lectures on diagnosis and treatment. It is noteworthy that a webinar series on various subjects was organized by Indira Gandhi Agricultural University with the financial support of Indian Council of Agricultural Research from February 01 to 09 for agricultural students.
The chief guest of the closing ceremony, Dr. S.S. Sengar said that the organization of webinar series on various useful topics for the students of various agricultural colleges by the Dean Student Welfare is a commendable effort. In these webinars, career and business prospects for agriculture students by subject experts, civil services preparation for agriculture students, physical fitness and mental health of students, prospects for agricultural students to study in foreign educational institutions, road safety awareness and college education. Summary information was given on important topics of student usefulness like depression management among the students. He hoped that this webinar series would prove useful for the personality development, capacity building and career development of the students. The special guest of the program Dr. M.P.
The keynote speaker of the webinar, Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Amba Sethi said that according to the World Health Organization, about 5 percent of the world’s population suffers from depression. He said that the problem of depression among college students is increasing. Stress, anxiety, sadness, being silent and lonely and unexpected changes in behavior are the main symptoms of depression. Due to depression, lack of mental concentration of students, anger and irritability are also seen. He said that depression has biological, mental and social factors. Dr. Sethi said that it is necessary to identify and diagnose the symptoms of depression and treat them at the earliest. He said that the management of depression includes physical exercise, yoga, meditation, good nutrition, good sleep, Sun exposure and family support play an important role. He said that despite this, if there is no benefit, then a psychiatrist should be consulted and treated. This webinar series was coordinated by Dr. Jenu Jha, Dr. Deepti Jha, Dr. Pratap Toppo, Dr. Subuhi Nishad, Dr. RK. Thakur and Dr. Ashulata Kaushal. Many senior scientists including Dr. Prabhakar Singh, Head of the Faculty of Fruit Sciences and Dr. Lalji Singh, Head of the Faculty of Forestry were present in the closing ceremony.
