Minister Shri Choubey observed and discussed the organic food items produced by the officials of farmers’ organizations and women’s groups. Minister Shri Choubey appreciated the hard work and dedication of the farmers and women’s groups. He said that with the hard work of all of you, Chhattisgarh is going to become a model state of the country in the field of agriculture. Development and treatment of drains in villages under Suraji Gaon Yojana, Gauthan Nirman, Godhan Nyay Yojana, vermi production, animal husbandry, increase in crop productivity through Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and GI tagged products under crop diversification at the exhibition of Agriculture Department Agro-based processing units, including cereals and minor cereal crops, fruits and vegetables, spices, aromatic rice, fiber products, have been showcased in a stellar manner.
In the pandal of Agriculture Department, mustard oil extracting machine, Murrah machine, banana fiber machine, potato chips machine including vermi compost, Diya-Gamla etc. have been demonstrated. Under the Suraji Gaon Yojna, an attractive model of benefits to agriculture from Narva development, Gauthan, community garden and production of compost manure has also been displayed. A long range of food items produced through organic farming being carried out by the farmers of the Vananchal to the plains are displayed here.
Agriculture Dhanendra Sahu of Dhamtari Hathband said that due to the high price of rice produced by organic method in the country’s markets, now the farmers of the area have started doing organic farming of aromatic paddy on a large scale. This year in Hathband 35 acres, in Dhamtari 500 acres and in Mahasamund area, such variety of paddy was cultivated, which gives black rice. Its demand and price is good in other cities of the country including Delhi. Many varieties of Karma rice, including GI tagged city’s Dubraj and Surguja’s cumin phul, mushroom, masala, pickle, rahad, tiwda, kodo-kutki are also being displayed and sold here.
