Raipur: Production of Eri silk in the state will increase the income of farmers as well as improve the standard of living: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel met Chief Executive Officer of Central Silk Board Shri Ranjit Ranjan Okhandiyar and Director of Vanya Silk Mills Private Limited Shri D.S. Kasare made a courtesy call.
Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ranjan told the Chief Minister that the state of Chhattisgarh has immense potential for the production of Eri silk, which needs to be promoted on a large scale. He said that Eri silk is obtained from the castor plant and it is in high demand in the national and international market. He told Chief Minister Mr. Baghel that industries related to mulberry and tussar silk are already established in the state, in such a situation, if the cultivation and production of Eri cocoon is promoted, then the income of the farmers will increase here and the farmers will be self-reliant. He said that the Eri silk industry established in the country was completely dependent on the import of Eri cocoons for silk production, but now this dependence will end with the approval of the Central Silk Board for cultivation of Eri cocoons in Chhattisgarh.
On this occasion, Mr. Kasare informed that he has submitted a proposal for cultivation of Eri cocoon in an area of ​​10 thousand acres in Chhattisgarh under Silk Samagra-2 of Central Silk Board. It will be a joint venture between the Government of Chhattisgarh and Kasare Vanya Silk Mill in collaboration with the Central Silk Board. 10 thousand people will be benefited directly and about 50 thousand people indirectly from this scheme.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel said that necessary cooperation for this project and place will also be given in new schemes of the government. Surely this scheme will provide new means of employment to farmers, tribals, youth and women. Due to which their income will increase as well as the standard of living will also improve.
