Raipur 23 December 2021. The process of making a new passport or renewing the passport in the state will now be simplified. Due to this, the delay and hassle due to police verification and other procedures for issuance of passports will be relieved. This entire process will be started as a pilot project in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Raigarh and Surguja districts of the state. Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain took a meeting of Home Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan today. In the meeting, discussions were held to simplify the passport process. Additional Chief Secretary Home and Jail Shri Subrata Sahu was also present in the meeting.
In the meeting, Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja informed that the process of issuing passports has been simplified using m-passport app in the states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Odisha. This m-passport app is proposed to be used in the state of Chhattisgarh. For the study and technical information of this entire process, a team of officials from the Home Department has gone to Maharashtra. This app will be used in six such districts of the state, from where applications for making new passports or renewal are received in large numbers. Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Initially, passports of applicants will be made through m-passport app in Raigad and Surguja districts. During the process, information will be sent to the applicant from the concerned police station for verification of documents. The physical verification of the place of residence of the applicant will be done by the personnel of the concerned police station within the stipulated date. After that the whole process will be done online. The work of providing passport to the applicant will be completed in 21 days. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to the Home Department to make necessary preparations in this regard. Senior officers of the Police Department and officers of Passport Office were also present in the meeting.
