Raipur, 19 December 2021. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister, Amarjit Bhagat, during his stay in the district Rajnandgaon, conducted surprise inspection of paddy procurement center Barhapur, Dhamdha in Durg district and other paddy procurement centers today. Shri Bhagat discussed with the officers and employees in the procurement centers and inquired about the arrangement of paddy procurement. He gave necessary directions to the officers present. He also directed the staff of the procurement centers to behave well with the farmers and extend all possible help to them.
It is noteworthy that this year the state government has set a target of purchasing 105 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from the registered farmers of the state. More than 32 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured in just 17 to 18 days after the paddy procurement started on support price from December 1.
Minister Shri Bhagat also discussed with the farmers who came to the procurement center regarding token and sack related works. The farmers told that they are satisfied with the arrangement being made by the government for the purchase of paddy. They are not facing any problem in selling paddy. The farmers thanked Minister Bhagat for increasing the rate of old gunny bags by Rs 25 by the state government.
