Raipur, 26 November 2021. Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia today participated in the program ‘Badti Kadam of Physical Referral Rehabilitation Centre’ at Mana Camp in Raipur. The program was organized to commemorate the provision of artificial limbs to Divyangjan of Surguja district. Smt. Bhendia congratulated 14 Divyangjans from Surguja district by feeding them sweets on prostheses and honored them with flower garlands.
Mrs. Bhendia interacted with all the Divyangjans to know their problems and wished them good luck for their future life. On this occasion he visited Speech Therapy Room with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing, Installation and Training Room for Persons with Disabilities at Physical Referral Rehabilitation Center (PRRC). During this, Director of Social Welfare Department P. Dayanand was also present.
Smt. Bhendia said that Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel’s intention is that the last mile person should have access to facilities. Following his instructions, the team of PRC reached the Divyangjan of village-village of Surguja. Congratulating the departmental team, he said that like Sarguja, the team reached every district. Work well and responsibly by reaching out to the needy people even in the ravines of Bastar. He said that people with disabilities have taken their steps forward with artificial limbs. In the future, they will start walking quickly and will be the support of their families. He said that the happiness of the parents cannot be described in words after seeing the little children playing and running again. Lakhs of rupees have to be spent for artificial limbs in big hospitals. With the help of state-of-the-art machines of the Social Welfare Department, the needs of the beneficiaries are being fulfilled free of cost. On this occasion, the Chairman of Surguja District Panchayat, Ms. Radha Ravi expressed her gratitude for the special camp in Surguja.
It is noteworthy that by the experts of PRRC Center operated by the Social Welfare Department, 140 Divyang beneficiaries have been identified by organizing camps in 7 development blocks of Surguja district from October 24 to 30. Efforts are being made by the department to bring these beneficiaries back in their life by providing 155 artificial devices free of cost. To prepare fake feet of 65 beneficiaries out of 140 Divyangjan, PRRC center is to be brought in Raipur, others will be provided organs in Surguja itself. In the first batch, 14 Divyangjans have been brought to Raipur and artificial limbs have been installed. The remaining Divyangjan will be brought to Raipur in separate batches and artificial limbs will be installed. Like Surguja, in future, there is a plan to provide free artificial limbs in all districts by organizing camps for identification of Divyangjan.
