Raipur, 16 November 2021.Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has declared Chhattisgarh as one of the cleanest states of India at the hands of President Shri Ram Nath Kovind in the Swachh Amrit Mahotsav organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 20 November 2021, under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, being celebrated on the occasion of 75th anniversary of independence. Will receive the award given.
While waving its flag in the field of cleanliness, Chhattisgarh has given the best performance while maintaining its status as the cleanest state of the country. Chhattisgarh will not only be rewarded as a state, but 61 urban bodies will also be rewarded for its excellent performance. Chhattisgarh will be the state whose highest number of bodies are being rewarded. Chhattisgarh has also been a leading state in the year 2019 and 2020 in terms of cleanliness.
It is worth noting that every year Swachh Survekshan is organized in all the cities and states of the country by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. In this, urban cleanliness is assessed under various parameters. Citizens’ feedback is also included in this, mainly through door-to-door garbage collection, scientific disposal of waste, open defecation free city, garbage free city etc., through third party assessment. On this basis, by releasing the ranking of states and cities, the best performing states and cities are rewarded.
Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country where, according to the principles of Narva, Garuwa, Ghurva and Bari, more than 9000 cleanliness didis are collecting 1600 tonnes of wet and dry waste from house to house and scientifically disposed of waste. . Apart from this, Chhattisgarh has been declared as the first ODF plus state of the country by the Government of India.
