Raipur, 14 November 2021. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the two-day Jawaharlal Nehru National Education Conference organized by the School Education Department at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur today on the occasion of the birthday of the first Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. On this occasion, the Chief Minister made three important announcements under the vision document 2030 of school education in Chhattisgarh. He said that in order to provide quality education on the lines of Swami Atmanand English Medium School, schools would be run in Chhattisgarh as per international standards. Pre-primary education will be provided to young children of more than three years of age by conducting Kindergarten and employment oriented education will be provided to the students of class IX to XII so that children can acquire skills in a particular discipline along with their studies.
Baghel said that this year ITI training in selected trades has been started in some schools along with high school education for high school students. The students of this course will get the certificate of ITI along with 12th on passing the 12th examination. He said that 8000 students are studying in this course started this year. The Chief Minister inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp and garlanding the oil painting of Pandit Nehru. School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam presided over the program. Former Union Minister Shri Shashi Tharoor and former Vice Chancellor of Delhi University Shri Dinesh Singh conveyed best wishes for the success of this program through video message. On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented the booklet ‘Vision 2030’, ‘Vibhutis of Chhattisgarh’, ‘Calendar of Chhattisgarh Raj Geet’, published by the School Education Department.
Shri Baghel said that whenever the contribution of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the making of modern India will be remembered, the important infrastructures built by Nehru, especially in the economic and educational field, will always be remembered. The Chief Minister said that Nehru ji had a special attachment to children. He used to say that children should be brought up with great care and love, because they are the future of the country.
Welcoming the educationists, scholars, teachers and experts, who are participating in the National Education Conference, which started from today in the capital Raipur, the Chief Minister said that during this two-day education conference, what work has been done in the field of children’s education in the last 75 years and What were they missing? Discussions will be held on what can be done better for the education of children, in which direction we can move forward. Chhattisgarh will also get an opportunity to learn a lot from the representatives from 27 states in this Samagam. He said that education has been of great importance in India from the very beginning. Our sages and sages had a special urge towards education. He remembered the great social reformer Raja Rammohun Roy and said that he started the movement to introduce English and science education in India, So that Indian students can stand in front of the world with confidence. The Chief Minister said that Gandhiji had started basic education and Pandit Nehru had started many educational institutions.
The Chief Minister said that the whole world was affected during the Corona period. During this period, digital education was started in Chhattisgarh. Despite many challenges during the Corona crisis, the teachers also discharged their academic responsibilities very well. In Chhattisgarh, stories of Guruji with umbrella, Guruji with bell and Guruji with motor cycle were seen. During the Corona period, teachers did not allow the education of children to be blocked. In the state, more than 75 thousand teachers made recordings on various subjects and provided study material to the children, whose benefit was taken by the children of Chhattisgarh as well as other states. Where there was network problem, Bluetooth (Bultu Ke Bol) was used for offline education. In the lockdown, when the children were at home, innovation was started to educate them in sports, in which the parents of the children were also involved.
The Chief Minister said that Swami Atmanand English Medium School started by the State Government is one of the most popular schemes of the State Government to provide quality free education in English medium to the poor children also. Children of officers of All India Services have also taken admission in these schools. He said that this scheme was started through three English medium schools in the capital Raipur, whose number has increased to 52 and now 171 at present. 25 percent of the seats in these schools are earmarked for children from poor families. 90 percent of the children in the English medium schools in the Scheduled Areas belong to poor families. Children of working families are also getting education in these schools.
Premsai Singh Tekam said that for the first time after the formation of Chhattisgarh, Shiksha Samagam is being organized to improve the education of children in Chhattisgarh. It is the effort of the state government to provide skillful education to the children in Chhattisgarh. He mentioned the innovations ‘Padhai Tuhar Duar and Padhai Tuhar Para’ started for online education during the Corona period. In Chhattisgarh, under the Right to Education, the scope of up to class 8th has been increased to class 12th. Mahtari Dular Yojna has been started for the education of the children who lost their families during the Corona period. On this occasion, Shri Gaurav Vallabh, in his remarks, recalled the contribution of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the field of education and said that in the first two five year plans of the country, he made arrangements for compulsory free primary education for the whole country. His effort was to develop a scientific temper in the country. He said that during the Corona period, when school education across the country suffered due to digital divide. New innovations of quality education were implemented with success in Chhattisgarh. Referring to the popularity of Swami Atmanand English Medium School, he said that this school has become ‘Sages for Ages’. He also gave many important suggestions regarding school education.
