Raipur, 01 October 2021. The Gauthan of Chhattisgarh will now be illuminated by the electricity of cow dung. In the Rural Industrial Park set up in Gauthan, the machines used to prepare different types of products will also run on the electricity of cow dung. Gothan will now be self-supporting in the matter of electricity. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel will launch the ambitious and historic project of power generation from cow dung at the Kisan Sammelan organized at the Basic School Ground of Bemetara district headquarters on October 2, the day of Gandhi Jayanti. In many Gauthans of the state, all the preparations have been completed for the generation of electricity from cow dung.
October 2, 2021, the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, will be an unforgettable and historic day for the state of Chhattisgarh. On October 2, Chief Minister Shri Baghel will launch power generation project from cow dung at Sikola Gauthan in Patan development block of Durg district and Bancharoda Gauthan in Arang development block of Raipur district, including Adarsh Gauthan Rakhi in Saja development block of Bemetara district. Preparations were being made by the Chhattisgarh government for the last several months for the project of power generation from cow dung in Gauthan, which is going to take shape on October 2. Apart from producing cheap electricity from cow dung, organic manure will also be produced. This will give double benefit to Gauthan Samitis and women self-help groups.
It is worth mentioning that under Suraji Gaon Yojna, about 6 thousand villages of Chhattisgarh State have been developed as Rural Industrial Parks by constructing Gauthans, here under Godhan Nyay Yojana, organic cow dung has been purchased on a large scale for Rs. Manure production and other income-oriented activities are being conducted by the women of the group. Electricity generation from cow dung is also being started from October 2 in Gauthans. For this, in the first phase, power generation units from cow dung have been set up at Rakhi in Bemetara district, Sikola in Durg and Bancharoda in Raipur district. One unit will produce 85 cubic cubic meters of gas. Since one cubic cubic meter produces 1.8 kW of electricity. With this, 153 kW of electricity will be produced in one unit. In this way, about 460 KW of electricity will be generated from the bio gas genset units installed in the above three Gauthans.
After the generation of electricity from this unit, the remaining slurry water will be used for irrigation in the bari and pasture and organic manure will be prepared from the remaining residue. If seen in this way, before cow dung, electricity generation and after that 100% organic manure will be obtained. This will give double benefit to Gauthan committees and women’s groups.
It is to be mentioned here that under the Suraji Gaon Yojna of Chhattisgarh Government, approval has been given for construction of 10 thousand 112 Gauthans for the purpose of conservation and promotion of livestock in villages. Out of which 6112 Gauthan is fully built and operated. So far, more than 51 lakh quintals of cow dung has been procured in Gauthans, in return for which Rs 102 crore has been paid to the villagers and cattle rearers. So far more than 12 lakh quintals of vermicompost, super compost manure has been produced and sold from cow dung to Gauthan. The convergence of Gauthan and Godhan Nyay Yojana, built under the Suraji Gaon Yojana, has started yielding multi-faceted benefits. Due to this employment opportunities have increased in the villages and the rural economy has got a boost.
