Raipur: Women of the group are becoming self-reliant by joining Gauthan

Under the Suraji Gaon Yojana of the Chhattisgarh government, the Gauthan and Godhan Nyay Yojana made in the villages have increased the employment opportunities along with the pace of the rural economy. From buying cow dung in Gauthans to production of organic manure and other income-oriented activities, women of self-help groups are becoming financially self-reliant. Women have awakened a new confidence.
Women of self-help groups associated with Adarsh ​​Gothan of Gram Panchayat Sankra under Berla development block of Bemetara district have created a new example of self-reliance with their dedication and hard work. All these groups are moving towards economic self-sufficiency by joining different activities of livelihood in Gauthans. The women of the groups are also engaged in expanding their economic activities. Women of self-help groups associated with Gothan are also planning to start activities like poultry farming, incense sticks manufacturing, mushroom production and dona-pattal manufacturing by connecting other women groups with them.
About 07 kms from Gram Panchayat Sankra Janpad Panchayat Berla. It is located on Raipur Road. In the Gauthan built in Sankara, along with the management of fodder, water and care of animals, dung is being procured regularly under Godhan Nyay Yojana. From cow dung women groups are producing Vermi Compost, Super Compost. About four and a half acres of pasture has been developed for green fodder for the animals coming to this Gauthan, out of which Napier grass has been sown in one and a half acres, Paragrass in one acre and maize has been sown in 2 acres. In which greenery is seen all around in Gothan. In this Gauthan, 700 plants of different species have been planted by developing a beautiful garden in two acres. It has been developed as an ideal Gauthan.
Sankara Gothan is associated with Women Development Self Help Group, Sangharsh Mahila Self Help Group, Jai Maa Banjari Self Help Group, Jai Maa Bamleshwari Self Help Group, and Samridhi Self Help Group. Women’s development self-help group is doing the work of vermi compost, from cow dung. Apart from this function, this group also forms phenyl. The women of Sangharsh Mahila Self-Help Group are doing the work of fabric work with full capacity. Jai Maa Banjari Self-Help Group is doing the work of development of bari in Gauthan’s pasture, and Maa Bamleshwari Self-Help Group is doing sheep rearing work. The Samridhi Self-Help Group associated with Gothan is engaged in the work of handicrafts. All these groups are contributing fully in developing Gothan as a multi-activity centre. So far 560 quintals of vermi compost has been produced from 1873 quintals of cow dung purchased in Sankra Gauthan, out of which 455. 50 quintals of vermi has been sold. The women of the group associated with this Gothan are excited by the benefits they are getting from their income oriented activities. Women are working to expand income-oriented activities by joining other groups in future and making Sankra Gothan an ideal multiactivity centre.
