Raipur, 29 September 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, taking a sensitive decision on the demand of farmers’ organizations and public representatives to release water from reservoirs, has directed the Water Resources Department to release water from irrigation reservoirs including Gangrel Dam from September 30. Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey has directed the departmental officers to release water from Gangrel Dam (Ravishankar Reservoir) for irrigation of Kharif crops in the command area of the dam from 30th September, following the instructions of the Chief Minister. The farmers of Dhamtari, Balod, Raipur, Balodabazar-Bhatapara districts will get water from Gangrel Dam for irrigation of Kharif crops.
Water Resources Minister Shri Choubey informed that at present 79 percent water is filled in Gangrel Dam. In view of the need of the farmers, instructions have been given to bring water from Madamsilli and Sondhur to Dudhwa, the reservoir of Mahanadi project group, to Gangrel. He said that in view of the demand of farmers’ organizations and local public representatives, instructions have been given to release water from Tandula and Kharkhra reservoirs for irrigation.
