Raipur, 18 September 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel honored 13 newly-appointed police constables of third gender community in a program organized at the Chief Minister’s residence office today and congratulated them. The Chief Minister said that all of you have given a new direction to your life by taking advantage of programs run for the welfare of third gender community and the policy of Chhattisgarh government. May you all inspire and encourage people to make a difference in their lives by being an inspiration to your community. On this occasion, all the constables thanked the Chief Minister for the policy made for the welfare, rehabilitation and protection of the third gender community in the state.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on the occasion that the Chhattisgarh government is working for the protection of the interests and constitutional rights of the people of all caste, class, community and gender in the state. It is the policy of the state government to promote social harmony and harmony. He said that Chhattisgarh is the first state of the country. Which has made a policy for the welfare of the third gender community of the state and to bring them into the mainstream. The state of Chhattisgarh has also constituted a welfare board for the rehabilitation and protection of rights of third gender persons. The Chief Minister further said that the government has made a provision of Rs 76 lakh in this year’s budget for setting up ashram-cum-rehabilitation centers for the rehabilitation of third gender persons. This will be the first center of its kind in the country. Online software has been developed for data storage of third gender community. 2 thousand 919 third gender persons have been identified in the survey, out of which 1,025 persons have been issued identity cards, which are valid for ration cards, passports, Aadhar cards, etc.
Director of Social Welfare Shri P. Dayanand informed that 97 people of third gender community had taken the examination in the recruitment of police constable, out of which 23 candidates were selected for physical test, in which 13 participants were successful and selected for the post of constable. and are currently posted in various districts of the state. The participants of the post of constable were prepared for written and physical test for 5 months in Administration Academy and State Resource and Rehabilitation Center by subject-experts. During this free food and accommodation were arranged for the participants. Health Minister Shri T.S. Singhdeo, Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Siddharth Komal Pardeshi and other officers were present.
