Raipur, 15 September 2021. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel met Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India at his residence office here today, in view of the special geographical conditions of Chhattisgarh, for sanctioning about four thousand kilometers of rural roads and for rural development schemes. Urged to provide maximum resources to Chhattisgarh. Shri Sinha held detailed discussions with the Chief Minister regarding the progress of rural development schemes in Chhattisgarh.
Giving information about the geographical conditions of Chhattisgarh to the Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, the Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is a bigger state than Tamil Nadu and Bihar. The settlements in Chhattisgarh are located far and wide. Therefore, about 4,000 km of roads should be sanctioned to connect the habitations with the roads. The Chief Minister also urged to make available more amount to Chhattisgarh under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is yet to get about four and a half thousand crore rupees from the Central Government on other items including GST. There has been a decrease in revenue due to the Corona crisis. In these circumstances, he urged to make available more resources to Chhattisgarh for various schemes of rural development. Shri Sinha discussed with the Chief Minister various schemes of rural development including Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Subrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mrs. Renu G. Pillay, Shri Ashish Goyal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, Shri Prasanna R. Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Chhattisgarh, Chief Executive Officer of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana, Shri Alok Katiyar were also present.
