Raipur, 13 September 2021. Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia inaugurated the ‘Suposhit Chhattisgarh Nutrition Exhibition’ on September 13 at New Circuit House, Civil Lines, Raipur. On the occasion of National Nutrition Month, an exhibition of various delicacies and vegetables prepared from local grains, ready-to-eat, available in Chhattisgarh was organized by the Department of Women and Child Development.
While visiting the exhibition, Mrs. Bhendia said that Chhattisgarh has abundant local nutritious food. Anganwadi workers and helpers are using this nutritional diversity to address malnutrition from children and women in Anganwadis. In this, the interests of children and women are also being taken care of. Through the nutrition show, we can know that how many types of delicious dishes can be prepared from ready-to-eat. The positive effect of adding local diet to food has been observed in women and children.
Divya Umesh Mishra, Director, Women and Child Development Department said that nutrition gardens have been developed in Anganwadis to provide easy nutritious food to women and children. People are also being encouraged to put up fences in offices and homes. In the last two years, more than one lakh trees have been planted in the state and nutrition gardens have been developed in more than 28 thousand Anganwadis. Keeping in mind the nutritional value, priority is being given to munga, fruit plants and vegetables in the gardens.
In the exhibition, departmental workers and women of self-help groups presented ready-to-eat ready-to-eat khurmi, papchi, dumpling-bhajiya, cakes with kodo kheer, ragi laddus, fara, cheela, anarsa, bidiya etc. A variety of local dishes were on display. Along with Chhattisgarhi thali, various types of drinks like Kanke tea, cumin water were also kept in the exhibition. Along with this, a growth monitoring chart was also made from salad to explain malnutrition. Tilda Project had displayed 42 types of different species of vegetables found in Chhattisgarh. It includes many vegetables like Cilliari, Karmatta, Gumi, Patwa Bhaji. On this occasion departmental officers and members of various organizations including Secretary Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale were also present.
