Chhattisgarh Millet Mission for Kodo-Kutki and Ragi crops
Chief Minister Shri Baghel further said that the people of our state should not face any kind of trouble due to financial crisis and global epidemic like Corona, but the process of increasing their facilities should go ahead. New measures have been taken. He said that keeping in mind the interest of the farmers in Chhattisgarh, along with increasing the production of small cereal crops, an initiative has been taken to provide them better prices and facilities. For this, Chhattisgarh Millet Mission has been established and a comprehensive action plan is being prepared for increasing production and processing. Small cereal crops are very useful from nutritional point of view but these crops have been getting less importance than other agricultural products. The farmers producing these crops have also been getting less importance as compared to other farmers. Keeping this in mind, we have taken necessary initiatives. In the continuation of increasing the facilities in Chhattisgarh, I had given instructions that along with taking up big projects of road, irrigation, electricity or any such infrastructure, attention should be paid to the fact that it is incomplete or unusable due to any reason. The projects should be completed on priority, so that the public can get the benefit of the money invested in that project. I am happy that serious initiative has been taken to realize this vision in Durg district. The Sipcona Canal is said to be one of the longest canals in Asia. It was told that in the year 2008 it was left half-completed. If attention had been paid to lining, cleaning and repair, then the farmer brothers and sisters would have benefited a lot from the investment made in this scheme.
I am happy that the district administration has taken initiative and started work towards making the Sipcona canal the lifeline of 51 villages instead of 22. Before adopting this strategy, where only 22 villages could get water, now it will reach 51 villages. Irrigation facility will be provided in 1 thousand 259 hectares in 7 villages of Gundardehi block of Balod district and 10 thousand 252 hectares in 44 villages of Patan block of Durg district. I think this is a very good model to get maximum benefit at less cost. In this apart from the irrigation department, the help of MNREGA is also being taken, due to which a large number of people are also getting employment. This is also a good effort by Convergence.
Nandini Mines to be developed as a major eco-tourism destination
Chief Minister Shri Baghel informed that earlier there was a limestone quarry in village Nandini situated at a distance of 25 km from Durg city in 2500 acres of land. Mining activities have been stopped in this mine for years. The district administration has made an action plan to develop forest in this area with a very comprehensive thinking, which will also help in tackling the industrial pollution of Durg-Bhilai and will also give a fillip to the environmental protection efforts of the state. The work of planting more than 80 thousand saplings has been started in this area, which will lead to the development of multi-layered forest. Plantation of grass species will also be done here so that animals can get good quality fodder. Under the project, conservation of biodiversity will also be done, due to which the habitat of wildlife in this man-made vast forest area and the entire region will become a center of attraction as a great eco-tourism destination.
Massive benefits of innovations in tribal areas
Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that for the overall development of Chhattisgarh, many such innovations have been done in the tribal areas too, whose benefits are now being received in large numbers by the people. He said that among these, people have got a lot of relief through the Malaria-free Bastar campaign. Today the success of malaria-free Bastar campaign is being discussed all around. Certainly, the idea of saving Bastar from malaria and the way it was implemented, will be considered an innovation. After the formation of our government, when we conducted a survey in seven districts of Bastar division, it was found that the annual parasite index, which is called API, which tells about the malaria affected, was more than 10, Which is considered very dangerous level. As part of the campaign, our health workers conducted door-to-door surveys and each individual was examined. Free medicines were given. Anti-mosquito medicines were sprayed in the houses. Medicated mosquito nets were distributed. These efforts have led to a steady decline in the rate of API. The positivity rate has come down from 4.6 per cent to 0.86 per cent in the last one year. The impact rate of malaria has reduced by 45 percent in the entire Bastar division. The manner in which the work was done on a war footing has been appreciated by NITI Aayog and UNDP and has been described as exemplary for other aspirational districts of the country as well. I also want to tell that ‘Mukhyamantri Haat-Bazaar Clinic Yojna’ also got a lot of support in this, Which was an innovation in itself. More than 11 lakh people were treated under Mukhyamantri Haat-Bazaar Clinic Scheme. In this way, the solution of malaria and other health problems also strengthened the efforts being made on eutrophication. The campaign to eradicate malaria has proved to be a boon for women and children. It has benefited the security forces and all the residents.
Similarly, our innovation drive has a big role in the change that is going on in Dantewada these days. You must have heard about the textile factory of Denex brand. It was inaugurated on 31 January 2021 and today 300 families are getting employment in it. Three more such centers are being set up, in which about 1200 people will get employment. The Denex brand has now also been introduced in the FPO sector, under which food items and handicraft items are also being sold in Dantewada district. King Kadaknath, Chhindgud, Moringa powder, Kodo-Kutki, tamarind, four seeds etc. have started getting a big market. In Dantewada district, small scale industries are being established by identifying 500 acres of land for processing of minor forest produce, food, horticulture and mineral products, in which 5 thousand families will get employment. Innovative efforts of education received appreciation at national and international level
Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that the economy of the entire country was shaken due to the global pandemic Corona, Corona had not only shaken our country but the whole world. Even in such a situation, while facing the challenges, the ‘Padhai Tuhar Duar’ program was started for the children to continue their studies. Online classes were started by creating a portal named cgschool.in. With this online education, lakhs of children started studying safely while sitting at home. Keeping in mind the areas without internet access and children who did not have mobile, Mohalla class was started. The teachers of our state organized many innovative activities for teaching. Due to the hard work of the teachers, the children’s relationship with studies remained, but the studies became more interesting and comprehensive. Rapid change in rural life due to Suraji Gaon Yojana
Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that I am also thrilled and overwhelmed by the change that is coming in the life of Chhattisgarh due to Suraji Gaon Yojana. The happiest thing is that when we give a direction, then you people find new possibilities of working in it. That’s what innovation is. We had started walking on a new path with the thought of saving Narva, Garuva, Ghuruva, Bari as the four symbols of Chhattisgarh, but with your original understanding, you have given it such a comprehensive form that new New products and new employment opportunities are being created. There is a very unique situation regarding the availability of water in Chhattisgarh. In our region, the water-stream does not flow from any glacier of the Himalayas. Our rivers and Narva are the sources of water for us. The number of rivers like Indravati, Mahanadi, Son, Shivnath, Atem, Mahan and Kelo are limited. But the number of drains flowing from 2 to 11 km is in thousands. In this way, Narva is our very important heritage. Certainly, due to the effect of climate change, the water in the rivers and streams has reduced. That’s why we focused on the ‘Narva’ project in time. So far, necessary improvement work has been done in about 32 hundred drains. We are working on a war footing plan to revive about 11,000 drains in the coming year.
I would like to state that the effect of our efforts is beginning to be visible on the ground. Good news of rising ground water level has started coming from many areas. Scientists have warned of climate change to create drought conditions, but I am confident that our preparedness for Narva development will save us from every crisis. Garuva to Dung, Dung to Vermi Compost, Super Compost and then Super Compost Plus. With the development of Garuva and Ghuruva, new avenues were made and money started pouring from the cow dung. From the figures of 8 September of Godhan Nyay Yojana, one can get an idea that what is the benefit of this scheme. So far, 100 crore 82 lakh rupees have been paid to those selling cow dung, 21 crore 42 lakh rupees to women self-help groups and 32 crore 94 lakh rupees to Gauthan committees. 1 lakh 77 thousand 437 cattle farmers have got benefit from Godhan Nyay Yojana, out of which the number of landless is 79 thousand 435. vermi compost, The production of Super Compost and Super Compost Plus has exceeded 11 lakh quintals and about 8 lakh quintals have been sold. This trend indicates that there is a rapid increase in awareness for the use of organic manure in Chhattisgarh. 1 thousand 634 Gauthans have become self-sufficient.
