Raipur, 11 August 2021. Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey called on the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in New Delhi today. The Governor presented the booklet ‘Constructive Role of the Governor in the Corona period’ to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister took information from the Governor about the rainfall and agriculture situation in Chhattisgarh. The Governor discussed with the Prime Minister the topics of Naxalism in Chhattisgarh, Fifth Schedule, land acquisition for projects etc. Ms. Uike said that the problem of Naxalism in tribal areas is serious. Concrete steps need to be taken to stop this. He requested for the implementation of MESA law in the urban areas falling under the Fifth Schedule. Also said that with the implementation of MESA law, tribes will get their constitutional rights.
The Governor apprised the tribals about the problems being faced in land sale and expressed the need to solve the problem. Apart from this, Prime Minister Vanvasi Kisan Samman Nidhi, Prime Minister’s free salt distribution scheme, benefits of central schemes, district cadre posts for recruitment in class 3 and 4 of government services of local forest dwellers, management of agricultural land of forest dwellers, empowerment of TRIFED, small Procurement of forest produce, promotion of individual schemes, review of Forest Conservation Act, Various points including free coaching system were also discussed to bring forward the youth of forest dwellers. Ms. Uike apprised the Prime Minister of the quantitative errors in the caste names of tribes and said that it is making it difficult for eligible persons to obtain caste certificates. Proposals for these reforms have been sent by the Government of Chhattisgarh and their recommendations have been sent by the Director General of Census and Scheduled Tribes Commission. The Bill is yet to be presented and passed by the Tribal Department. The Governor requested for an early decision on the matter.
The Governor also requested to include four districts of Purvanchal of Uttar Pradesh Chandauli, Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Sant Ravidas Nagar in tribal districts. The Governor also discussed about making Bhumiswami a shareholder in the dividend of that projects in lieu of land to be acquired for quarrying projects to be set up in private and government sectors or to pay annual or monthly rent for the use of the land. The Governor also presented a memento to the Prime Minister.
