Raipur, 04 August 2021 .Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to the former minister and popular leader Shaheed Mahendra Karma on his birth anniversary on 5th August. Mr. Baghel has said that Mahendra Karma was not only a politician but also a sensitive, aware and emotional person. He was known as ‘Bastar Tiger’ for his strength and courage to fight for the rights of the tribals. Mr. Baghel said that he was such a selfless person and a transparent friend like him. Late Karma fought for the tribals till the last moment of his life. As Leader of Opposition and Minister in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, he took important responsibilities and made his invaluable contribution in the development of Chhattisgarh. In honour of Mahendra Karma’s memories, Chhattisgarh Government has named Bastar University after him and has started ‘Shaheed Mahendra Karma Tendupatta Sangrahak Samajik Suraksha Yojana’ for the tendupatta collector families of the state.
