Raipur, 30 July 2021.  Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey today attended the “Excellence Decoration Ceremony” organized at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Auditorium of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. Assembly Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs were present on this occasion. Governor Ms. Uike said that the people’s representatives who work in the parliamentary system with honesty and devotion to duty and are devoted to the public interest, they definitely get their reward. He said that the Legislative Assembly is the highest policy making body. It is such a holy place, from where the future of the state is decided. Through this, elected representatives get an opportunity to serve the public. The Governor congratulated the outstanding MLAs, outstanding parliamentary journalists and electronic media reporter who were awarded at the function.

The Governor said that by attending this function today, I was reminded of the old days. When I was MLA in Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, I was rewarded with the honor of Conscious MLA by the then Governor Shri Balram Jakhar. I got the opportunity to work with the senior politicians of the state at that time. Due to their guidance and learning, today I got the opportunity to become the Governor of Chhattisgarh with various responsibilities.

Governor Ms. Uike said that it is a matter of happiness that a two-day special session of the Legislative Assembly was organized on October 02 and 03, 2019, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which is commendable. Brief sessions of the Vidhan Sabha were held even during the Corona period. He said that in a democracy, along with the ruling party, the opposition also plays a major role. In the context of progress and development of the state, both should have the same approach. Only on the foundation of mutual understanding and mutual trust, the goal of public welfare can be achieved. In our assembly, there is a very fruitful discussion among all the parties and work is done with coordination. This was also reflected in this session of the Legislative Assembly. For this, I congratulate the Speaker, Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, who resolved the burning issues of the state with harmony.
Governor said that media is considered as the fourth pillar of democracy. The media acts as a bridge between the legislature and the executive. It makes both the pillars aware of the problems of the citizens and also informs the general public about the welfare policies of the government. In Chhattisgarh, media through its various forms has not only made the general public aware and educated, but has also played an important role in the development of the state.

Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Dr. Charandas Mahant congratulated and extended his best wishes to all. He said that all the MLAs and journalist brothers who were awarded today are a source of inspiration for the society. He said that all respected people are the total lamps of their family. He hoped that in the same way he would continue to illuminate the name of his family, state and country. Shri Mahant congratulated and congratulated the Governor on the completion of his two-year term and said that he has brought back memories of the tenure of the then Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel extended his best wishes to the outstanding MLAs and journalists. He said that it is a challenge for an MLA to get elected and after the election to excel in the assembly and to maintain that performance continuously. An MLA puts the problems of his area and issues of public interest in the assembly and they are also resolved. Therefore, it is a great achievement for a legislator to get the award of an outstanding legislator in parliamentary life. The media does the work of taking the part we take in the proceedings of the Vidhan Sabha, logically expressing our views among the people of the country and the state. During this, journalists have to face the challenges of maintaining time, quality, balance. Even for him, getting the award for outstanding journalism is an achievement. The rewards that all these people have got are the result of their hard work.
