Raipur, July 16, 2021. Chhattisgarh has once again raised its flag at the national level in the field of agricultural development. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Korea of Chhattisgarh state has been awarded by the Government of India as the best Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the country. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Korea has been awarded for the effective implementation of Chhattisgarh government’s ambitious scheme Narva, Garuwa, Ghurwa and Bari and entrepreneurship development among the farmers. On the occasion of the 93rd Foundation Day of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar declared Krishi Vigyan Kendra Korea as the best Krishi Vigyan Kendra among the 722 Krishi Vigyan Kendras operating across the country in the honor ceremony held at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi today. Awarded with Krishi Vigyan National Incentive Award-2020 in Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey has congratulated and congratulated Krishi Vigyan Kendra on this proud achievement of Korea. The Agriculture Minister has said that the team of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Korea has inspired the farmers of Korea district towards profitable and advanced farming with their tireless hard work and innovation.

This honor is given to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Korea’s ambitious plan of Chhattisgarh government, effective implementation of Narva, Garuwa, Ghurva and Bari, organization of farmers and establishment of Farmer Producer Organization (Korea Agro Producer Company Limited), pasture development in Gauthan villages in 55 acres in the district. Program, Innovative agriculture, horticulture and allied activities, vermilion herbal powder, lemongrass tea leaves, sweet potato flour, turmeric, eucalyptus and aromatic oil extraction from fennel leaves and twigs and successful demonstration of fennel cultivation in Gauthan villages, to promote honey production. For the successful implementation of innovative works like bee keeping and improved species of pulses and oilseeds crops, processing and marketing of various crops etc. to increase the income of farmers in Chhattisgarh, by forming a group of tribal farmers.
It is noteworthy that in collaboration with District Administration-Korea, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Korea established a model field of improved varieties of fodder crops like Napier, multi-year sorghum under pasture development program in Gauthan villages in 55 acres. In order to promote cash crops in Gauthan villages, a demonstration farm of improved varieties of turmeric like Roma, BSR-2 and Rashmi has been established in 35 acres. Lemongrass, khus, palmaroza, under crop diversification in group gardens, 40-50 acres, under crop diversification in the form of interstate farming by preparing fruit-bearing matrivatika in 75 acres by drip method by selecting collective gardens of farmers. By planting citronella and sweet potato etc., the crop density of the falling land was estimated up to 300 percent. In the garden development program, the technical demonstration of plantation of improved varieties of vegetables cum fruit trees was implemented in 200 gardens by the center. To promote Ghurva management, the tribal farmers group established 100 earthworm stitches from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Korea and MNREGA and sold earthworm manure, vermiwash and earthworm. A company named “Korea Agroproducer” has been formed by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Korea by organizing farmers, which is manufacturing, processing and marketing 22 agro-based products. This company with 573 farmer members has done a business of Rs 42 lakh this year. In this farmer producer organization, 72 percent members are tribal farmers. Under the technical guidance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Korea with the financial support of District Administration Korea, processing and value addition products for milk processing, steam plant for extracting essential oil, pulse mill, rice mill, edible oil mill, scent incense sticks manufacturing machine for Farmer Producer Organization. Khadi India, TRIFED India, Hand Crafts Development Board, for marketing by setting up 20-25 products on standard basis. Khadi is being made available to village industries etc. In order to upgrade the livelihood of women groups, training is also being given in the manufacture and marketing of hand made scented soaps and scented incense sticks. Continuous vocational training is being given by Krishi Vigyan Kendra to the farmers of the district under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme.
