Raipur, 15 July 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the proposals for capital investment for setting up a plant to prepare ethanol from maize and sugarcane in the state should be approved at the earliest after testing. The Chief Minister was addressing the 15th meeting of the State Investment Promotion Board at his residence office here today. He said that two committees should be constituted to solve the problems of all industries. In relation to policy matters, a committee should be constituted under the chairmanship of the Industries Minister and for implementation matters under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. He said that through these committees, efforts should be made to expedite the work of setting up agro-based industries and iron-mineral based industries in Bastar region.
The status of implementation of MoUs for setting up industries in the state was reviewed during the Global Investors’ Meet held in the year 2001-18 and in the year 2012 in the State Investment Promotion Board meeting. A total of 158 MoUs were canceled due to inaction in 55 MoUs from 2001 to 2018 and 103 MoUs made during the Global Investors’ Meet in 2012.
It was informed in the meeting that between 2001 and 2018, 211 MoUs were signed with a capital investment of Rs 3 lakh 3 thousand 115 crore 70 lakh, out of which the actual capital investment is Rs 78776.36 crore. Production has started in 67 MoUs, implementation has started in 61 MoUs, while works have not started in 55 MoUs, which it was decided to cancel. Similarly, in the Global Investors’ Meet, 275 MoUs were made with a capital investment of Rs. 93,830 crores and Rs.69 lakhs, out of which the actual capital investment is Rs. Production has started in 6 projects. Site selection has started in 25 projects. No work has started in the remaining 103 MoUs, Which it was decided to cancel. In the meeting, the officials informed that 115 MoUs are in force since the year 2019. Of these, the proposed capital investment is Rs 46,937 crore. Implementation has started in 92 projects and production has also started in one. Work is to be started in 23 new MoUs.

Pillay, Excise Department Secretary Mr. Niranjan Das, Revenue Secretary Ms. Rita Shandilya attended the meeting through video conferencing.
