Raipur: Digital library should be prepared to save the rich folk culture of Chhattisgarh: Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur, 06 July 2021.  Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel has said that a digital library should be prepared to save various dimensions of the rich and rich culture of Chhattisgarh. He said that this would help in giving a new identity to the culture of Chhattisgarh on the world stage and acquaint the future generation with its culture. He said that important information related to artists of various genres including folk music, folk dance, folk literature should be compiled in this digital library with the help of experts. The Chief Minister gave these instructions in a review meeting of the Culture Department held at his residence office here today.
The Chief Minister said that many musical instruments have been prevalent in the folk culture of Chhattisgarh, many people are not aware of them now. The information about such instruments should be stored digitally by recording their name, method of playing, etc. Information regarding folk dances, folk artists of different regions of Chhattisgarh should also be collected. He said that encouragement should be given to more and more young artists doing important work of promotion and preservation of the culture of Chhattisgarh through various schemes of the Culture Department including the State Government’s Folk Artists Promotion Scheme. It should be ensured that government cultural programs are not available only to established artists. New and young artists and folk art teams should also be given work.
Culture Minister Shri Amarjit Bhagat, Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Shri Ram Gopal Agarwal, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Subrata Sahu, Secretary Shri Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Secretary, Culture Department Shri Anbalagan P., Culture Department Director, Shri Vivek Acharya was also present in the meeting.
Secretary, Culture Department, Shri Anbalagan P. informed in the meeting that Lok Artiste Protsahan Yojana, Manas Mandali Incentive Scheme, Scholarship Scheme have been started for promising artists who are in need. He said that to encourage folk art and folk artists, the department has prepared a Chinchari portal for the registration of artists. The introduction of unique identity cards to artists and art teams is being started. Similarly, an online grant portal has been created to provide financial assistance to the registered institutions in the department. He also informed that monthly pension is being given by the department to the needy writers and artists. Critical illness, accident, under Artist Welfare Fund (Medical Grant) The maximum assistance given on death is Rs 25,000. In the year 2020-21, assistance of Rs 14 lakh 76 thousand was given in 131 cases. He also informed that an honorarium of Rs. 9 crore 56 lakh has been given to 1678 artist teams presenting cultural programmes.
It was informed in the meeting that a provision has been made to give incentive amount to 100 folk artists every year under the Folk Artists Promotion Scheme. An annual incentive of Rs.24 thousand to a maximum of 30 artists or teams of dance-music, folk drama, folklore, Chhattisgarhi lyricist genre for the preservation, promotion and development of art, Rs.18 thousand to a maximum of 25 artists or teams of musical instruments, A provision has been made to give an annual incentive of Rs 15 thousand to maximum 20 craftsmen, Rs 12 thousand to maximum 25 artists or teams of Chhattisgarhi culinary arts (Chhattisgarhi cuisine) and Rs 12 thousand to maximum 10 artists of Chhattisgarh aesthetic arts.
It was informed in the meeting that under Manas Mandali Protsahan Yojana 2021, competitions of registered Ramayana congregations would be organized at village panchayat, block level, district level, state level and incentive money would be given to the Ramayana circles that secured first place. 5 thousand each in 12 thousand mandals that came first at the gram panchayat level, 10 thousand to 146 mandals selected in the first place at the block level, 50 thousand rupees to the Ramayana circles selected in the first place at the district level, At the state level, an incentive of Rs. 5 lakh will be given to the first position selected group, Rs. 3 lakh to the second-ranked group and Rs. 2 lakh to the third-place selected group. Similarly, about 7 thousand Ramayana congregations registered in the Chithari portal will be given an incentive amount of Rs 5 thousand each for purchasing musical instruments under special incentive. Under the Scholarship Scheme 2021 for promising promising young artists, scholarships will be given to 101 young artists every year. Under Guru Shishya Parampara, 56 selected trainees will be given a scholarship of five thousand rupees per month, 30 students selected for school education, 8 thousand rupees per month and 15 students selected for higher education, 10 thousand rupees per month.
The Secretary of the Culture Department told in the meeting that to save the memories of Swami Vivekananda’s stay in Raipur in the capital Raipur, Swami Vivekananda Memorial Bhawan (Day-Bhawan) is being prepared, in which Swami Vivekananda’s biography, his spiritual journey, Raipur stay. Separate galleries are being built to showcase Swami Vivekananda’s foreign stay and his impact on Indian culture. He also informed that Chhattisgarh Cultural Space Center would be developed at Purkhauti Muktangan in Nava Raipur, in which Bharat Bhawan, Manav Sangrahalaya Bhawan, Archives building would be built on 10 acres in Purkhauti Muktangan museum complex. He has built intellectual circuits, new works being done in Purkhauti Muktangan, Provided information about the web archives to be created. He informed that the preparations for the National Tribal Dance Festival 2021 have been started by the department. He informed that to promote Chhattisgarhi cuisine in all the district headquarters of the state, Gadkalewa’s refreshments have been started from 15th August 2020.
