Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that all 45 lakh 48 thousand rural families of the state will be provided pure drinking water by the end of the year 2023 by giving free tap connections in their homes. He said that the state of Chhattisgarh would fulfill this target in any case within the stipulated time period. Our parents will get the maximum benefit of water supply from the tap in the house and courtyard. Those who have to spend a lot of effort and time to arrange water. The Chief Minister said that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, so far the work of providing pure drinking water through taps has been completed in 5 lakh 66 thousand houses. There will be no shortage of funds for providing pure drinking water to the remaining houses. We have made a provision of Rs 850 crore in the state budget this year to provide water to households through tap connections. This year the work of supplying pure drinking water through taps to more than 22 lakh families will be completed.
The Chief Minister was addressing the virtual program of land worship of 658 works costing Rs 238 crore 56 lakh 86 thousand in 16 districts under Jal Jeevan Mission at his residence office here today. Through these schemes, tap connections will be given in 65 thousand 396 houses. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel flagged off the campaign vehicle of Jal Jeevan Mission. Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant presided over the program. The Chief Minister said that it is necessary to provide clean water to the people to fulfill the dream of a healthy Chhattisgarh. Water borne diseases adversely affect the economic condition of the people in rural areas. Supply of pure drinking water in homes will solve this problem. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, apart from homes, arrangements for running water will be made in schools, Anganwadi centers and public places. With water reaching the homes, people will also start using the toilets made at home.
Referring to the discussion held with the rural women benefited from the Jal Jeevan Mission in the program, the Chief Minister said that they drew attention to the practical problem of sewage disposal in rural households. Similarly, a sister said that she would irrigate trees and plants with dirty water. Mr. Baghel asked the officers to plant trees in rural houses or their nearby places when there is free space available. So that the dirty water of the house can be used to irrigate the trees and plants in the house and the garden. Simultaneously, soaking pits should be made in the houses and if the lanes of the village are wide, then arrangements for drains should also be made.
Chief Minister Baghel said that by supplying 55 liters of water per day to every household on per capita basis, the pressure on underground and surface water sources will increase. Therefore, it is necessary to make arrangements for water recharging and also to maintain water storage structures to maintain a continuous supply of water. Emphasizing on the need to speed up the works of Narva Project being run in the state, he said that availability of underground and surface water will be maintained. He said that in rivers and streams where there is more sand, water should be stopped by making earthen dikewalls. To ensure availability of water for drinking water, irrigation and industries. During the program, while directing all the collectors associated with video conferencing to expedite the work of Kovid-19 vaccination in the state, the Chief Minister said that vaccination is the only effective way to prevent the third wave of corona infection. In the first one day, 3 lakh 26 thousand vaccines have been administered in the state. Yesterday, on June 21, 91 thousand people were vaccinated in a single day in the state, there is a need to accelerate this work.
The Chief Minister said that supply of pure drinking water to households would get rid of health related problems caused by contaminated water, arsenic, fluoridated water. If there is no pure water source in any habitation, then arrangement will be made to bring water from other habitation or distant village also and water will be taken through taps by making tanks in the villages. According to the need, water will also be supplied to the houses by forming a group of some habitations or villages. The Chief Minister said that during the virtual program of inauguration and foundation stone laying in various districts from June 8 to June 21, 1373 schemes costing more than Rs 425 crore were laid under Jal Jeevan Mission. Through which tap connections will be given in 1 lakh 46 thousand 739 houses. So far, the foundation stone of 2031 schemes costing more than Rs.663 crore has been laid under the Jal Jeevan Mission in the entire state. Through which pure water will be provided to more than 2.12 lakh families through tap connections. The Chief Minister appealed to all the district collectors, public representatives and officers of the department to work diligently to make this scheme a success. Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Dr. Charandas Mahant presiding over the program said that historical work is being done to provide pure drinking water through tap connections to all the families in the rural areas of the state. Today the foundation stone of water supply schemes in 16 districts was laid.
Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Guru Rudrakumar said that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, administrative approval of Rs 3499 crore has been issued so far for 7162 schemes for supply of clean drinking water through taps to the homes of the families residing in rural areas of the state. It has been completed, due to which 8.85 lakh houses will get tap connection for water supply. He said that many villages and areas of the state There are such areas where there is a problem of fluoride, iron etc. in the water. Group water scheme has been prepared to supply pure drinking water to the villagers of such areas and villages. Through which the supply of drinking water from river or dam will be ensured. He said that 18 group water schemes have been approved. In these schemes, a group water scheme costing Rs 62.23 crore for Giroudpuri Dham and Rs 10.34 crore for Supebeda has been approved, the work of which will start very soon. He also informed about setting up of water laboratories in all the districts of the state to test the purity of drinking water.
