Raipur : Roads should be repaired before rainy: Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu

Raipur, 28 May 2021. Public Works Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu has said that traffic is not disrupted in any way during the rainy season, so quality repair of roads should be done. He has directed to complete all the works under construction by speeding up, avoiding the corona infection. Minister Shri Sahu today conducted a detailed review of departmental works through video conferencing from his Raipur residence office. Senior officials of the department were present on this occasion, including Secretary, Mr. Vikas Upadhyay, Secretary Mr. Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi and Deputy Secretary Mr. SN Srivastava, MD Mr. Sandeepan Bilas Bhoskar.

Minister Shri Sahu reviewed the works of Asian Development Bank (ADB), Chhattisgarh Roads and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Setu Vikas Nigam, National Highways and National Highways Authority of India along with roads, bridges and culverts. All the Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Work Engineers as well as Project Director ADB and National Highway officials were involved in the video conferencing.

Public Works Minister Mr. Sahu said that the monsoon is likely to come soon this year, keeping in mind that all roads should be repaired. He also instructed to expedite the construction of under-construction roads and culverts. Shri Sahu instructed the district officials to send information every month with special emphasis on providing employment to more and more unemployed youth, registering in E-category and appointing engineers under contract with contractors in construction works. He also directed to ensure a convenient bypass system during the widening and improvement of roads.

Minister Shri Sahu gave the highest priority to the announcements made by the Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and directed to send the proposal of works related to roads, bridges and departments by June 10. He said that there should be no compromise in the quality of the works. Do the construction work under the approved amount only. Do not unnecessarily create revise steamets. Contractors who do not work properly under contracts, blacklist them. Make sure to send photographs of construction works regularly to senior officials through WhatsApp. He also instructed to keep the cases of land acquisition in the weekly deadline meeting to be taken by the collectors and to expedite disposal. He instructed to complete all the cases of compassionate appointment of old and new compassionate appointments by the death of departmental officers and employees due to corona and other reasons.

Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Vikas Upadhyay, who was present in the virtual meeting, said that the construction work had slowed down due to the corona, now speed it up, because the work of the Public Works Department is connected with the people. He said that the departmental officers have done a good job for the Kovid Center and Kovid Hospitals. Appreciating the works being done under Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana, he emphasized to register in e-category for maximum employment.

Chief Engineer Shri V.K. Bhatpahri gave information about departmental achievements through presentations. He said that under the Mukhyamantri Sugam Sadak Yojana launched on June 19, 2020 to connect all government buildings with all-weather paved roads, Rs 266 crore has been sanctioned for 2262 works so far. 201 works have been completed, 126 works are in progress and 1813 works are at tender stage. 741 works have been selected under the Chhattisgarh Road and Infrastructure Development Corporation (CGRIDCL). Out of these, sanction of Rs.2275 crore has been given for 155 works and tender is being invited for all the works. He informed that under RCPLWE scheme 316 works have been approved in Naxalite affected areas. Out of these 26 works were completed, 190 works are in progress and work has been issued for 90 works. So far, 1610 contractors have been registered against 2187 applications received in e-category in the state.
