According to the decision taken by the Government of Chhattisgarh, the farmers who sold paddy at the support price in the year 2020-21, if they are kodo-kutki, sugarcane, pigeonpea, maize, soybean, pulses, oilseeds, aromatic paddy, other fortified (instead of paddy) Ginko Rice, Indira Madhuraj) take paddy crop or plant trees, then they will be given an input subsidy of Rs. 10 thousand instead of Rs. 9 thousand per acre and subsidy will also be given to the planters for 03 years. In the Kharif year 2021-22, along with paddy, input subsidy will be given at the rate of Rs. 09 thousand per year to the growers of all major kharif crops like maize, soybean, sugarcane, kodo-kutki and arhar. The minimum support price of Kodo-Kutki has been fixed by the state government at Rs. 03 thousand per quintal.
Thus it has been decided to provide input subsidy of Rs.10,000 per acre to farmers who cultivate other identified kharif crops in exchange for paddy in the area under paddy from the upcoming Kharif season 2021. This will encourage production of crops other than paddy in the state. Farmers can take kodo-kutki, sugarcane, pigeonpea, maize, soybean, pulses, oilseeds, aromatic paddy, other fortified paddy (Ginko Rice, Indira Madhuraj) in exchange of paddy or plantation. Less fertile land, rocky soil, red soil, red soil etc. which are available in abundance in Kanker district, where farmers can get good production by cultivating kodo-kutki, ragi in an advanced manner. Earlier farmers had difficulty in selling kodo kutki ragi, due to which they used to sell to local middlemen or shopkeepers at low prices, But now the support price of Kodo has been declared by the state government at Rs. 03 thousand per quintal, which will definitely benefit the farmers who produce these crops. The district administration has also set up a small grain crops processing unit in village Gotulmunda of Krishi Vigyan Kanker and Durgukondal development block, so that farmers can get more income by selling processed grains.
