Raipur. 19 May 2021. So far (till May 18) 20 lakh 19 thousand 088 samples of RTPCR have been tested in 11 virology labs in the state for identification of corona infections. This constitutes 90 percent of the total RTPCR investigations since the onset of corona infection in the state. Samples of large number of samples arriving daily in these labs are engaged by a team of 350 people who are constantly working in different shifts day and night amid the dangers of corona infection.
A total of 22 lakh 50 thousand 616 samples have been tested in the state so far. Of these, 20 lakh 19 thousand 088 samples have been tested in 11 government labs in the state and two lakh 31 thousand 528 in private sector labs. 20 microbiologists, five senior scientists, seven junior scientists, 164 lab technicians in the virology labs established at AIIMS Raipur including nine government medical colleges in the state Raipur, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur, Rajnandgaon, Raigarh, Ambikapur, Korba, Mahasamund and Kanker and Korea District Headquarters Baikunthpur. , 61 lab attendants and 70 data-entry operators are engaged in this work. Most samples have been tested at RTPCR in Virology Lab of Raigad Medical College. So far, three lakh 70 thousand 761 samples have been tested. Three lakh 60 thousand 025 in Jagdalpur Medical College, three lakh 46 thousand 741 in Raipur Medical College, two lakh 77 thousand 425 in Rajnandgaon Medical College, two lakh 50 thousand 985 in AIIMS Raipur, two lakh six thousand 445 in Sims Bilaspur, Ambikapur Medical Samples have been tested in one lakh 93 thousand 181, 5036 in Kanker Medical College, 4816 in Mahasamund Medical College, 877 in Korba Medical College and 796 in Baikunthpur Virology Lab.
RNA is extracted after lysis of samples from potential patients for RTPCR examination of samples in the virology lab. The virus is then identified through the RTPCR process from this RNA. Microbiologists, Senior Scientists, Junior Scientists, Lab Technicians and Lab Attendants are needed to complete this entire process.
