, Raipur. There has been a stir after the case of ragging came to light in Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of the capital Raipur. After investigating the complaints, the committee has held two MBBS second year students guilty and suspended them. An important meeting of the anti-ragging committee was held today in the presence of college dean Dr. Vivek Chaudhary, hospital superintendent Dr. Santosh Sonkar and all the department heads, in which the victim and accused students were questioned. In this case, college dean Vivek Chaudhary has said that further action will be taken after the investigation report comes.

Let us tell you that this incident of ragging happened with the junior students of first year last month. After this, a complaint was also made to the National Medical Commission (NMC) by the relatives. Along with this, such complaints were also posted on the internet media and NMC was tagged, which created a stir in the college. After the matter heated up and the controversy deepened, the responsibility of investigation was handed over to the Anti-Ragging Committee in a hurry. The Anti-Ragging Committee found the allegations of the junior students to be true in the investigation of the complaints. On this, two MBBS second year students Deepraj Verma and Anshu Joshi have been suspended for 10 days.

Action will be taken on the basis of the report of the Anti-Ragging Committee – Dean Dr Vivek Chaudhary

After the meeting of the Anti-Ragging Committee, the Dean of the college Dr Vivek Chaudhary said, “In the case, both the victim and the accused have been questioned, now further action will be taken as per the report of the Anti-Ragging Committee. Earlier, after the matter came to notice, preliminary action was taken and two students were immediately suspended. He said that I myself am constantly going among the students, going to their classes, the students have been explained. Whatever the problem is, inform me immediately.”

Police action and expulsion from college is not the solution

College Dean Dr Vivek Chaudhary said that the dispute started over the program during the annual function and gradually increased. As soon as the matter came to notice, both the parties were immediately explained, police action and expulsion from the college is not a permanent solution for this, because the future of the students is at stake. Action will be taken, as per the report the suspension period will be extended.

Junior students had made these allegations against senior students

If sources are to be believed, the senior students behaved inhumanly with the juniors. There is a talk that the heads of many students were also shaved. Not only this, a WhatsApp group of first year students was created and photos of junior girls were being sought. Apart from this, arbitrary orders were also imposed on all the students like keeping their hair very short i.e. shaved, not wearing fitted clothes in the college campus, carrying normal bags, not wearing too stylish shoes. In the complaints, there is also a mention of beating up of junior students.

Cases of ragging have come to light earlier also

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that reports of ragging of students have surfaced in Mekahara. Earlier in the year 2015, a similar complaint was received, in which despite the ban on fresher party, students were called in the class and a discussion was held with them regarding the fresher party, on the basis of which 86 students were suspended for a month. At the same time, in 2022, an incident of ragging was also reported in the Dental College, after which action was taken against three students.
