Three officers and one soldier have been martyred in two encounters with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The officers include a Colonel of the Army, a Major and a DSP of Police. On Wednesday, terrorists opened fire on security forces in Anantnag when they were conducting a search operation. In this, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak and DSP Humayun Bhat were martyred. The encounter is still going on here.
The soldier died in Rajouri on Tuesday. Two terrorists were also killed. An army dog also died during the search here on Tuesday. He risked his own life to save the life of his handler. The encounter in Rajouri is over. Army dog saved the handler during the encounter.

During the North Tech Symposium 2023 program, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant Upendra Dwivedi said regarding the encounter that Pakistan is once again trying to spread terror in the region. According to the report of news agency PTI, on Monday, security forces had received information about 3-4 terrorists hiding in Narla village of Rajouri. After this a search operation was conducted there. During the raid, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, after which the encounter started.
So far this year, security forces have killed 26 terrorists in Rajouri-Poonch district. 10 security personnel have also been martyred.
Two suspects managed to escape
The security officer said that on the evening of September 11, a search and cordon operation was launched in the forest area of Patrada. In view of the suspicious activity of two persons, some rounds of firing were done. However, both the suspects managed to escape.
6 terrorists were caught on 9th August
Kashmir Police and Indian Army had arrested 6 terrorists before August 15 during a joint operation. Ammunition and weapons were recovered from them. The first case is of the night of 9th August, where three terrorists were caught in Athlan Gadole of Kokernag. Three people including an army soldier were injured during the encounter.
The second case is of Uri in Baramulla, where security personnel caught 3 Lashkar terrorists. A case was registered against them under UAPA and Arms Act. Baramulla Police and security forces of Army’s 16 Sikh Light Infantry spotted a suspect in Churunda Uri while patrolling. Seeing the security forces, he started running away, but the security forces caught him. He was identified as Shaukat Ali Awan, a resident of Uri. Two grenades were recovered from him
