In the capital Raipur, a class 11 student has died due to drowning in Kharun Anicut. Three friends had gone to Anicut to take bath. During this time a boy’s foot slipped. The matter is of Purani Basti police station area.
According to the information, the boy went into deep water after his feet slipped. After this the remaining friends informed the police. After this the SDRF team and police started searching. The body was recovered after 3 hours of effort. The deceased has been identified as 17 year old Gaurav Verma.
Friends are residents of Patan
Purani Basti police station in-charge Yogesh Kashyap said that three youths had gone to take bath in the anicut of Kharun river around 1 pm. According to initial information, all three are originally residents of Patan Durg area. Police said that the boy’s father Shailendra Verma works as a daily wage labourer. After the incident, the family members are in bad condition and crying.
Called 112 for information
When Gaurav fell into the water, two friends present with him tried to save him but they could not succeed. After this he called the police at 112 and informed them about this incident. But by the time the police team reached the anicut, the young man had drowned in water.
Due to the depth of this anicut, SDRF team was called to the spot. The SDRF team started searching for the dead body of the youth. After about 3 hours of effort, the body was taken out of the water. The police are now investigating further in this matter.
